TITLE: Transmigrated as the Doomed Fake Heiress: The System Demands I Slap Faces!
CHAPTER 8: WELCOME TO THE WARZONE
An hour later, the convoy turned off the coastal highway, passing through massive, fortified iron gates that belonged to the Lu Family Estate. The manor was a sprawling, gothic fortress perched on the edge of a jagged cliff, overlooking the churning black ocean. It looked less like a home and more like a billionaire's villain lair.
The Maybach pulled to a smooth stop in the circular driveway. The tactical guards immediately swarmed out, securing the perimeter with assault rifles raised.
The heavy door of our car swung open. A butler in a pristine tailcoat bowed deeply. "Welcome home, Master. Welcome home, Madam."
I stepped out into the freezing sea breeze, wrapping Lu Qingshan’s discarded velvet jacket tightly around my shoulders. The hydraulic lift lowered his wheelchair down beside me.
"Get some rest tonight, Lin Xia," Lu Qingshan said, his voice returning to its customary, icy detachment as he looked at the massive manor. "Tomorrow, the real game begins. The Lu family elders are arriving from the capital. They will not take kindly to the fact that I married a woman with no backing, let alone the disgraced daughter of a ruined family."
"Elders?" I raised an eyebrow, the thrill of the fight already humming in my veins. "Are they the traditional, stuck-up, misogynistic types who think women should only pour tea and speak when spoken to?"
Lu Qingshan's lips twitched. "Worse. They control forty percent of the global syndicate. And they have brought the daughter of the Northern Warlord with them, fully intending to force me to marry her."
[DING! NEW MAJOR MISSION DETECTED!] [Objective: Dominate the Lu Family Elders and destroy the Northern Warlord's daughter in a battle of wits and wealth!] [Reward: 50,000 Points and the 'Immortal Poison Cleansing Pill' (Can cure the Host's husband)!]
My eyes widened at the reward. An Immortal Pill? If I cured Lu Qingshan, I wouldn't just be his contract wife; I would hold his literal life debt. He would be entirely, irrevocably devoted to me.
Suddenly, before we could even cross the threshold of the grand double doors, the sharp, piercing crack of a high-caliber sniper rifle echoed over the roar of the ocean.
BANG!
A bullet the size of a cigar tore through the air, shattering the marble pillar mere inches from my head.
"Sniper! Protect the Master!" the captain roared. The tactical guards instantly formed a human shield around the wheelchair.
Lu Qingshan’s eyes narrowed into terrifying, lethal slits as he looked out into the darkness of the cliffside. "It seems my dear uncles couldn't even wait until morning to test my new bride."
I brushed a piece of shattered marble dust out of my hair. My heart was pounding, but not with fear. With absolute, unadulterated excitement.
I cracked my knuckles, the system interface glowing brightly in my mind.
"Husband," I said, stepping smoothly out from behind the human shield, my eyes locked on the distant treeline where the sniper was hiding. "Tell the maids to start drawing me a hot bath. I'll be inside in three minutes."
Lu Qingshan looked at me, his dark eyes wide with a mixture of shock and profound, obsessive desire.
"Three minutes?" he whispered.
"System," I commanded, a feral grin spreading across my face. "Buy the 'Night-Vision Ballistic Trajectory Matrix' and the 'Shadow-Step Agility Boost'. Let's go hunt some elders."
[DING! Purchases confirmed. Happy hunting, Host!]
